The united states government does not negotiate with terrorists, after all. Now, influential people are being scooped up en masse. Suddenly, people just start disappearing. Will anyone say anything? Probably not. We've been conditioned to need a hero, and to not become one, even in a small way. You think all those superhero movies were just to make money? Lol. You'll end up cremated or in a ditch, and your name struck from official record. Nobody will ever be able to prove what happened to you.

"But wait a minute Jack, there's no way they have the people for that. Even a few hundred on this 'task force' aren't enough to arrest enough of us!" Wrong. DHS can effectively "borrow" agents of other agencies, and can essentially take over local law enforcement in the event that a terrorist threat is identified. Its in the patriot act clear as day. They've got their own task force plus the men and women of every local law enforcement agency and sheriff's office. Local law enforcement can be granted special powers to assist in the investigations.

Almost every single time, the military and police side with tyranny throughout history. That's necessary to rule with an iron fist. Nature of the beast.

Will this stuff happen tomorrow? No. Will it happen in 2 years? Probably not. Will it happen in 5-10 years? Now we're getting to where it will start.

Will we revolt? No. We will protest, and give this same agency an easy starting point by allowing it to ping all the phones in the protest and give them our names, and probable cause.

Will we take legal action against homeland security? No. Skilled attorneys and legal geniuses stand a chance in that realm, but they are few, and a couple suicides will send the message just fine. We will return to twitter thanks to musk, accept that they sell our information, complain online, and give the ministry of truth our names and probable cause.

Will we vote them out? Well... Bold of you to assume that voting is real at this point. We stand a chance where states have passed more strict voting laws, and we mostly stand a chance in local elections at that point. It'll be tough, considering that the governors and the federal government have charge over funding. So if you elect patriots, expect bad roads, no public assistance, police/fire/EMT budget cuts and the like. We will be punished for our insolence.
