Why do cars have antenna?”
Antennae are used to convert electrical power into radio waves (for broadcast) or radio waves into electrical power (reception). They're used in conjunction with a transmitter or receiver.
In most cars, it's for receiving radio broadcasts for the purpose of entertainment/music.
Some vehicles, such as commercial or government vehicles, use them to transmit as well as receive radio signals for the purpose of communicating with each other or with a central dispatch.
Sometimes, you may see vehicles without an obvious antenna that are still able to receive radio broadcasts. In such instances, they can be hidden as an integrated component somewhere on the vehicle. For example, Honda integrates their radio antenna on the rear windshield on many models.
