2021-12-24 00:22:22 I think I am going to call our ministry tour:

The Reconciliation Tour

The agenda will be healing, restoration and reconciliation.

It’s going to be good. :) I Can’t wait!

There are many things in our country that need reconciling. Many things just don’t add up. We have committed many offenses and the wrongs have not been made right. But our problems began further back than 2020.

The breakdown of the family has led to the breakdown of national morality and the fear of God. Mom and Dad needed reconciliation but they didn’t get it. Now the kids are mad at one or both of the parents and they need reconciliation. Too often they didn’t get it ,so now they are mad at God.

Unforgiveness led to anger and bitterness.

Bitterness led to sickness and disease. Now the body is in need of reconciliation with itself. The body cannot hate and love at the same time. The body is sick.

“Oh, what a miserable person I am! Who will free me from this life that is dominated by sin and death?” Romans 7:24

The one and only, unchanging answer is Jesus.

“Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation.”

2 Corinthians 5:18

2021-12-23 21:50:32 Years back, I woke up in middle of the night, figuring God wanted me to pray for someone (which happened occasionally). Before I went to sleep earlier that night I asked God to heal my heart re: my Dad (alcoholic, very verbally abusive, divorced and then Dad-less.) The pastor Id talked to about it before said in his experience those Dad-less believers usually went their whole life having trouble believing God actually loves them. How discouraging that was to hear. Anyway, back to God waking me up…I sat up in bed and physically felt a hand gently pushing my head back down to the pillow. Ok then. I will just lay here God! Then I physically felt two halves of my heart? Soul? get melded back together. In an instant. I thought I would have that empty hole in my spirit all my life, and in one 2 minute space of time God healed me. He is so good, He really does love us. I knew zero about emotional healing, I just know I was broken and it was marring knowing my Father God. So I asked Him for help. I even asked “even if it takes my entire lifetime to heal me, please do it”. God said “sure I will, only takes a few minutes though!”

Surrogate Dad

Last night, my wife Susie and I, hosted my three youngest sisters for what we call “Christmas Eve Eve.” (We had to add an extra “eve” this year). This tradition is 15 years old. These are my youngest sisters and they were 3, 5, and 7 when our father suddenly died.

My wife and I married one year after my Dad’s death and we have hosted these young ladies ever since as a means of closing some of the void left by Dad’s absence.

This year, they insisted a read “Mortimer’s Christmas Manger” like I did all those years ago. I can’t explain how full I felt to be surrounded by these young ladies in comfort and acceptance. Not many people get to be Dad and brother. And of course, I am not Dad, except maybe a little. And that little counts for a lot.

It is Gospel work to meet an unmet need. Attempting it will meet a need in you too. I pray that you will answer the call today. Obedience pays high dividends.

2021-12-22 14:44:44 Whether it is good or bad, we experience the quality of our family life most keenly during the holidays. I have many wonderful memories of Christmas, which is why I am such a big fan of Christmas today. But I also have a few heartbreaking Christmas memories. Both affect me today. I will share a few memories over the next couple days that I think you will enjoy. I may touch on a few sad memories if that is constructive. But the most important thing to note is that this is a time of year when what we believe about God really comes into sharper focus, whether our beliefs are correct or not. In turn, whether or not intentional, we also present to our kids our views about God during this time too. Our attitudes, stress-levels, priorities, celebrations or lack thereof, subtly but powerfully reflect our beliefs to the world and especially to our children.

What world do your kids experience as home life?
My goal is to make the living room a place where everyone is loved, accepted, listened too, seen, and understood. When the kids grow older, they will always return to a living room like that, (not to mention the faith that created it!). That was true for me. I still miss my parents living room with my Dad in his lazy-boy chair. And I have always maintained the faith that created that living room.

2021-12-21 15:31:54 Think about what Jesus said to John the Baptist. John was in prison being treated very unjustly. He began to doubt that Jesus was the Messiah because of the injustice was experiencing. How did Jesus assure John that he was right to believe that Jesus was God’s justice bringer?

“Go and tell John,” replied Jesus, “what you’ve seen and heard. Blind people are seeing! Lame people are walking! People with virulent skin diseases are being cleansed! Dead people can hear again! The dead are raised to life! and the poor hear the good news! God bless you if you are not upset by what I am doing.”
Matthew 11:4-6

Look at the fruit. If our works, words, and efforts produce the peaceful fruit of justice, they are from God. If they produce death and destruction, they are from the devil.

There is a time for consequence when a just verdict is rendered; but our passion must be for redemption and restoration which will straighten the things that are bent.
