High energy and commodity prices pull the Asia-Pacific region inflation up. The RBA is planning to raise the interest rate again. If the actual numbers are bigger than the forecast, and the RBA is optimistic about the country’s economy, AUD will rise.

The consumer price index rose 8.6% in May compared to last year, the highest level since December ‘81. Even if we know the Fed Funds rate decision results, some insights can help us understand the Fed’s future policy. If the record uncovers more Fed’s hints on policy tightening, USD will go up.

The US Bureau of Labor Statistics will state average hourly earnings, nonfarm payroll, and the unemployment rate. If NFP is higher than expected, USD will rise. Lower NFP will pull USD down. The unemployment rate is the opposite: the lower, the better for the US dollar.

The Great Seven wealthy democracies gathered in an alpine resort in southern Germany. They are ready to adopt a new package of coordinated actions on Tuesday to increase pressure on Russia over its war in Ukraine and finalize plans to cap Russian oil prices. Besides, together, the G7 will announce a possible ban of gold import from Russia. Gold is a major asset that rakes in tens of billions of dollars for Russia. The G7 countries are determined to increase the pressure on Russia without fueling the inflation that has particularly impacted Africa and South America. Western sanctions have hit the Russian economy hard, and the new measures aim to further deprive the Kremlin of resources revenues. The ban on Russian gold imports will have a global scope, shutting the commodity off official international markets.

The previous meeting didn’t bring volatility to the pair but prepared the market for the PMI release that came the day after. Bailey pointed out that BOE was ready to raise the rates if the economy suffered. Thus, lower-than-expected PMI data crashed the pound against the USD by 1170 points.

Traders watch the index closely because of the rumors that this is Fed’s favorite inflation measure. The May release came according to the expectations. This time volatility may be the same (or higher) as the US inflation is at a 40-years high. The results will affect all USD pairs.

ISM PMI is likely to decrease. The index may enter the contraction zone and press even more on USD and stocks. Last time, the result was higher than expected. It caused volatile moves in EURUSD. Minutes after the release, USD plunged by 800 points.
