European economy contracts less than expected.

Spain's GDP increased 0.4%, defying expectations for a 1.4% drop. Germany also recorded growth of 0.1%, while output in France fell less-than-forecasted .

Austria and Italy saw the biggest plunge in Europe. Their economy dropped 4.3% and 2.0% respectively

Economists has expected a drop in eurozone of 2.5% in January.
