Lessons I learned after receiving the results of round 1 - Essays. (That you should know too)

1. If you are given 2 hours to write an essay that takes 40 minutes (IELTS task 2) write for 40 minutes and check/revise for 1.2 hours. I wrote a 650 word college application essay and got punished for it.

2. Reread every sentence of your essay very carefully after you're done writing. Don't be lazy and accidentally write to instead of too.

3. I could probably get a very good score on IELTS ( I will soon )

4. Having a plan actually helps when writing essays, especially whenever you want to write a specific amount of words

5 . Read lots and lots of books. Writing is 10x easier if you're well read since you have a million of references to use

6. If you're in a competition, think about who's going to be grading your essay and think of what they would like to read. Manipulate this fact.
