‘Trigun’ Fans Can Rejoice, As ‘Trigun Stampede’ Will Be Released Next Year

One of the biggest manga and anime hits of the 90s, that of the wonderful Trigun, will be getting a new anime called Trigun Stampede to be released next year.

The original Trigun started out as a manga in 1995 and was penned by Yasuhiro Nightow, who would later work on the Gungrave games. Followed by a very successful anime series in 1998, the story chronicled Vash the Stampede and the immense bounty on his head.

Trigun is definitely one of a few fan favorite series from the 90s and to tackle a new entry now is definitely not at all trivial.

Thankfully, the CG studio Orange will be handling the anime’s production and they have a pretty great track record.

While some of the PR for this new series listed Orange as being the “best 3D animation studio” out there, producer Yoshihiro Watanabe from the studio was quick to counter that with a refreshingly down to earth Tweet.

Treasury Secretary Yellen Says Recession Not ‘At All Inevitable’ — But Inflation Is ‘Unacceptably High’

Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said a recession is not “at all inevitable,” though she warned economic growth could slow, days after the Federal Reserve hiked interest rates to fight inflation and some experts questioned whether the economy is heading into another recession.

Yellen told ABC’s This Week she expects the economy to slow due to the recovery of the labor market from the Covid-19 pandemic, adding “it’s natural now that we expect a transition to steady and stable growth.”

Yellen added that “clearly, inflation is unacceptably high,” after consumer prices jumped 8.6% year-over-year last month, marking an unexpected 40-year high.

Yellen reiterated that combating inflation is President Joe Biden’s number-one priority, and that Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell has said his goal is to bring down inflation while maintaining a strong labor market.

NASA Will Spend $35 Million On A New Mission To Probe The Moon’s Mysterious Volcanoes

NASA has green-lit a mission to explore a region of the Moon never before visited in an effort to understand a geological mystery — and help future lunar colonists.

The Lunar-VISE (Lunar Vulkan Imaging and Spectroscopy Explorer) robotic rover mission will cost $35 million and launch in 2026 to study the chemical composition of the Gruithuisen Domes, two mysterious volcanic features that appear to be made of rock hardened from cooled magma — possibly like Mount St. Helens in Washington State.

However, formations like the Gruithuisen Domes on Earth require oceans and plate tectonics, neither of which the Moon has or had.

Lunar-VISE will have five scientific instruments, two on a stationary lander and three on a mobile rover. It will spend 10 days exploring the summit of one of the domes, analyzing the lunar regolith and also exploring how dust interacts with the spacecraft and rover.

Bitcoin Drops Below $20,000 As Crypto Crash Continues

Bitcoin fell under $20,000 for the first time since December 2020 on Saturday as the cryptocurrency market continues to reel from job cuts, rumors about impending insolvency at major crypto firms and a steep interest rate hike by the U.S. Federal Reserve.

Bitcoin was trading at $19,420 at 7:30 a.m. ET, down 8.1% over the past 24 hours.

Over the past seven days, the world’s most valuable cryptocurrency has dropped 33%, shrinking its total market cap from $580 billion to $370 billion.

Since hitting an all-time high of $68,990 in November last year, the cryptocurrency has now fallen more than 70%.

Ethereum slid another 8.4% over the past 24 hours to $1,011, off 39% from a week ago, while other currencies affected by the selloff included BNB, down 6.5% over the past 24 hours, Dogecoin (-4.9%) and Solana (-4.3%).

Average Gas Price Falls Back Below $5 A Gallon — And Could Keep Dropping

The average price for a gallon of regular gasoline in the U.S. fell to just under $4.99 on Saturday, according to AAA, marking the first weekly decline in nine weeks as oil prices have fallen back from multi-year highs.

The average gas price hit $5 a gallon in the U.S. for the first time one week ago, peaking on Tuesday at around $5.02.

Prices fell the fastest in Northeastern and Mid-Atlantic states, led by more than 4 cent declines on average over the past week in New Jersey and Maryland.

Prices also fell quickly in places where gas is most expensive, like the San Francisco Bay area and Chicagoland.

Gas in San Francisco is now $6.58 a gallon on average, down from $6.64 on Monday, while the average price in the Chicago metro area is around $5.87, down from a high of $5.92 last week.

Stocks Post Worst Week Since March 2020 Amid ‘Deafening’ Recession Worries

The stock market struggled for direction on Friday after brutal selloffs in recent days, with the benchmark S&P 500 on track for its worst week since March 2020 as investors brace for a looming recession.

Stocks were mixed after several sharp selloffs earlier this week: The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.1%, less than 100 points, while the S&P 500 rose 0.2% and the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite gained 1.4%.

Markets have been roiled by rising recession fears this week, with the S&P 500 falling roughly 6% — its worst weekly performance since March 2020.

After especially steep losses on Thursday, the Dow fell below the 30,000 mark and hit its lowest level so far in 2022, while the S&P and Nasdaq remain firmly in bear market territory.

Investors are still digesting the latest rate hike from the Federal Reserve, which raised interest rates by 75 basis points.

Gaming Hardware Giant Razer’s Venture Arm Leads $4 Million Investment In Singapore Crypto Payment Startup

Zventures, the venture arm of Singapore billionaire Min-Liang Tan’s gaming hardware giant Razer, has led a $4 million funding round for TripleA, a crypto payment startup based in Singapore.

Founded in 2017 by its CEO Eric Barbier, TripleA's service allows companies, such as e-commerce platforms and game developers, to accept payments in cryptocurrencies.

In November 2021, TripleA received a digital payment token license by the Monetary Authority of Singapore, the country's central bank, becoming the first crypto payments company to be granted such a license in the city-state.

“This strategic investor partnership with zVentures brings knowledge, connections and consultancy in the gaming sector for TripleA, a key vertical for crypto payments,” said Barbier. Zventures' other portfolio companies include Hong Kong-based blockchain powerhouse Animoca Brands.

Shining, Shimmering, Splendid – Tiffany & Co Brought To Life In New Exhibition

In the throes of the current London heatwave, internationally renowned luxury jeweller, Tiffany & Co, opened the doors for its Vision & Virtuosity exhibition at the Saatchi Gallery. The exhibition marks 185 years since the brand was born and 150 years since its launch in London.

Tiffany & Co. has always been as relevant for its celebrity collaborations as it for its craftsmanship and design; the iconic blue box brand does not seem to have lost any of its appeal.

This exhibition is not just a showcase for jewellery lovers as it offers the opportunity to understand what makes for a legacy brand and how traditional brands have to stay relevant in an ever evolving world.

The Tiffany & Co. app can be used to book the ticket for the free exhibition and it also hosts a full audio tour. This is helpfully divided into exhibits allowing users to take in the vast exhibition space at their own pace.
