In 1993, astronaut Story Musgrave was preparing for a spacewalk. During ground training in a vacuum chamber, he severely frostbite his fingertips. In the summer of 1994, after the flight, he stated that his fingers had not yet healed.
NASA was pointing fingers at each other during the handling of the incident. I have a question for NASA: after 30 years of spacewalks, how can you not know that temperatures in the shadows drop to very low levels and that the fingers of astronauts in a spacesuit will be vulnerable?
