Neil Armstrong set foot on the Moon in 1969 in his famous super-suit. It protected against radiation, had an air supply, did not overheat, did not overcool, and generally brightened the impact of the inhospitable lunar surface in every way.
In 1982 NASA astronauts tested a Gruman lunar surface suit (it would seem that you have a super-suit, so why reinvent the wheel? But in the 21st century the U.S. admitted that they do not have spacesuits - the technology is lost, the specimens are unrepeatable, in general - not a fate).
The 1982 spacesuit had no life-support system of its own, and received energy and air to breathe from the landing module.
The appearance also raises questions. After a modern and maneuverable suit, to turn an astronaut into Thunderbird from Bulychev's stories, clumsy and without an independent life-support system, seems like degradation.
