The Immutability of God: Part I

Immutability simply means unable to change. Open Theists argue against this attribute of God by claiming that there are various places in scripture where we can see that God has emotions, changes in relationships as well as a change of will. Some Open Theists will claim that in God there is no essential change, but there are accidental changes. This is demonstrably false.

The Bible clearly says that God is unchanging as seen in Jms. 1:17 "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning." as well as in Heb. 13:8 "Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.".

Since there are no shadows of change in God we can conclude that there are neither essential nor accidental changes in God.
