Five things traders need to know today
US stocks were mixed on Wednesday. Nasdaq +0.13% hit a fresh all-time high. S&P 500 and the Dow edged lower. US manufacturing activities expanded at record pace, while the service PMI and new home sales missed estimates. European indices closed lower.
Gold was nearly flat at $1,778.95. WTI crude (SpotCrude) extended the rally to $73.58, with the US crude inventory declining for a fifth straight week. Bitcoin bounced off the 2021 low to $33,040.
The US dollar index (USDX) rose to 91.77 as the yield on 10-year Treasury was trading higher at 1.49%. USDJPY broke above 111 before easing back, closing at a 15-month high.
EUR dipped to 1.1926 despite the better-than-expected German and Eurozone PMIs in June. GBP fought back to 1.3961 on strong PMIs. The BoE policy announcement is eyed today.
AUD ended higher at 0.7576 despite Australia’s weak PMI, sitting above the 200-day SMA. NZD jumped to a one-week high of 0.7046. USDCAD was slightly lower at 1.2303.
