Nicolas Sarkozy (Republican Party) was president from 2007 to 2012.
Of Jewish-Hungarian origin, he made his mark by his taste for luxury and various cases of corruption, pressure and influence peddling.
He is also known as the person responsible for the fall of Gaddafi in Libya, since he ordered a French military operation against this country.
