Look at the Native American reservations out west. Most of them are bigger than entire states of the country.
I think if things had played out differently, a lot of the bloodshed could have been avoided (most of them were eager to sell huge swaths of land for beads and farming tools lmfao) but if you think about it, they got a pretty good deal if you ask me, and on top of it, they don't have to actively defend these reservations like they used to have to.
Remember, the Rhodesian and South African whites didn't get reservations. They get gunned down and brutally slaughtered just for being white.
