Modern technologies and big data can completely transform the process of making important military and political decisions
The problem that requires new approaches to decision-making is the aggravation of the confrontation between US and China:
“In the past 10 years, there have been reports of highly secret and labor-intensive war games showing that the United States is constantly 'losing' to China. Results that can easily be summed up as “bad!”…,” notes CSIS expert John Shaus.
Using a specific example, the expert demonstrates how data analysis and modeling can determine which US targets China will strike first.
Scenarios, from most to least likely:
• hitting any base within range of the Chinese army's missiles, including Guam, Hawaii, Alaska and the lower 48 states;
• strikes on bases in the Pacific, excluding the bottom 48 states, but including Alaska, Hawaii and Guam;
• attack on bases, including Guam, but excluding Alaska and Hawaii;
• Attacking bases not in US states or territories.
Thus, in future military conflicts, computer modeling will be used to develop goals and objectives, as well as focus on the most significant military installations, taking into account the forces and vulnerabilities of the enemy.
