My top10 shall wait! В продолжение поста про Living Legends, предлагаю вам послушать this yet another one underground classic. Dope beats & spiritual lyrics, complex rhymes & perfectly chaotic flow — overall, great record. Truly got that early 2000s feelin' to it.
Словно музыка чисто для меня — и надеюсь, для многих из вас! Альбом — про бытие, любовь, время — плюс внутренний космос и мир в тебе. То есть — ценность личностного воображения и восприятия — "perhaps, I'm too complex for the next man to understand".

Конечно, с достаточным количеством lyrical attacks towards the fake and glamorous hip hop industry of that time — "аs enlightening as burnt out neon signs and liquor store windows", as Scarub says on "Complications". Заметкой на полях — на самом деле, сейчас открываю для себя единственный, как мне кажется, пока мной слабо познанный мной пласт хип хопа — белую подземку на переходе из 90х в нулевые.
И очень радуюсь тому, что ещё не всё было понято. Возвращаясь к альбому, лично мне "Heavenbound" напоминает best efforts (yet, those are raps at its best — that still feel effortless, aye) нескольких других, вероятно, более вам известных представителей западной ветви alternative hip hop.
В особенности, это — Dillated Peoples и "4th Dimensional Rocket Ships Goin' Up" от Gift of Gab из Blackalicious (о котором, вероятно, я ещё расскажу вам в другом посте). To name a few moar:
- early Jedi Mind Tricks
- Deltron 3030 / early Del The Funkee Homosapien from Hieroglyphics
- Aesop Rock
- Company Flow and early El-P + Cannibal OX first album
- a bit of Common — "Electric Circus" sonically + "Be" lyrically
