During the 1960s he was a figure of the post-war counterculture, civil rights, and pacifist movements, and known for his love affairs with several women prominent in those circles, including Joan Baez.
His 'Like a Rolling Stone' is itself, by numerous metrics, the most acclaimed song ever released. 'The Times They Are a-Changin'' is emblematic of the 1960s zeitgeist, set against the backdrop of unrest pushing for the end of segregation in the American south.
