Anti-LGBTQ+ bill passed in Ghana’s parliament.
The Parliament of Ghana has passed the bill on the promotion of human sexual rights and family values bill, commonly referred to as the anti-LGBTQ bill.
The bill prohibits LGBT activities and criminalizes their promotion, advocacy, and funding. Persons caught in the act would be subjected to a 6 months to 3 year jail term with promoters and sponsors of the act bearing a 3 to 5 year jail term.
Individuals caught engaging in the act could face a prison sentence ranging from six months to three years, while promoters and sponsors of the act could face imprisonment for three to five years.

Kwabena Gideon, a 23-year-old married mobile money vendor from Awutu Bereku in the Central region, has tragically ended his life, allegedly due to a 16,000 Ghana cedis debt he owed his employer.
Gideon, who had a one-year-old son, reportedly ingested poison, and witnesses found a bottle of poison beside him. His life ended approximately 20 minutes after consuming the toxic substance.
