Banks for Q3 largely reported stellar performance with higher-than-expected earnings growth, primarily led by strong credit growth, better margins, and lower credit costs as asset quality improved for most banks.


Overall credit saw healthy 13% y-o-y and 6% q-o-q growth. This acceleration in credit was aided by pick-up in corporate credit and strong growth in the retail segment, including mortgage loans and credit cards. Personal loans witnessed signs of pick up and vehicle loans growth continued to remain subdued on account of underlying weak volumes.

Asset quality showed improvement for most banks in Q3. This was aided by moderate slippages, better recoveries, and higher write-offs. However, stress remained elevated in some segments such as SME, CVs, and MFI.

In this weekend I have studied multiple reports from multiple sources from DII data. As you know, getting detailed FII data as a small fish like me , is not possible. But I have access to all the DII data. From those data analysis I habe found out some interesting points which I would like to share. I have tried to figure out the overall sectoral preferences and stock preferences.

Their preferred sectors are large cap banks, IT, industrial real estate, insurance, and capital markets. They dont have enough faith on consumption and small banks.

They have recently , on every quarter , slowly increasing the stakes in these - axis bank, cipla , ITC, cummins india. And some stocks they have removed in bulk. They are radico , cdsl, ajanta pharma.

Mostly they likes the large cap bank very much. There is a reason for that. More banks have demonstrated asset quality improvement, lower slippages , higher recovery. That hs led to improved PPOP growth. Lending accelerated because of that and resulted in promising credit growth.

2022-02-26 17:00:25 Only Rus-Ukr issue is the trigger for now. Monday is relatively safe.

Overall, most positive news is FIIs are accumulating Stock futures in India. They're roughly around 3.25 lakh contracts by now. At the top of Covid crash they held 5.0 L puts and bottom of Covid crash they accumulated around 5.5 lakhs stock futures.
Usually 3L future contracts mean 1-1.5 month of bull market. 5+ contracts mean around a quarter of bull run. They maybe targeting UP election result as trigger for the move, till then more dips will be there. Best buy around 15500.

With Rus-UKR war priced in, it would be now near impossible for Fed to raise rates. Or atleast not the 8-9 times in this FY that they had Targeted. Maybe only once or twice and that too late in the year.

Downside trigger - NATO getting involved in war which would take a swift 10-15% correction. That too V shaped. Open / Comment
