A short time ago, the Chief of the General Staff, LTG Herzi Halevi, concluded a situational assessment in the Paran Regional Brigade.

LTG Halevi examined the sequence of events in the location throughout the day together with the Commanding Officer of the Southern Command, MG Eliezer Toledano, the Commanding Officer of the 80th Edom Division, BG Itzik Cohen and the Head of the International Cooperation Division, BG Effie Defrin.

Chief of the General Staff, LTG Herzi Halevi: "This is a difficult incident, during which three soldiers, two young men and a young woman, were killed during operational activity to maintain the security along the Egyptian border. At the end of an exchange of fire, in which IDF soldiers strived for contact, the assailant was neutralized.
The incident took place at a border where operational activities are conducted every night.
We are investigating the incident in a thorough, in-depth manner, together with the Egyptian Armed Forces, and we will draw the necessary conclusions.
The soldiers fulfilled their duty and prevented further harm to IDF soldiers and civilians. I ask that you wish strength to the families for their loss.”
