WHY do gardeners enjoy using sawdust?

Gardeners find different uses for sawdust. You can use it for mulching, for example, to protect the soil around your crops and prevent weeds. Sawdust can also be added to compost.

Some gardeners use sawdust when making beds - a layer of sawdust mixed with ash is placed under the soil to raise the level of the bed and as a fertilizer. Finally, sawdust can be sprinkled on garden paths.
