Some people think that public health within a country can be improved by government making laws regarding nutritious food. Others, however, think that health is a matter of personal choice and responsibility.

Some think that government should make eating nutritious food mandatory to improve the health of the population while others feel that people themselves are responsible for their health. Although passing a law that states everyone has to consume healthy food is a good idea to some extent, I am of the opinion that it is indeed a matter of personal choice.

Some may think that people will have good health if governments introduce a new law making people eat nutritious food. More often than not, people are unwilling to consume nutritious foods, even though they know about their health benefits. If it was something they have to observe, they would have no other option but eat foods that have nutritional value. When choosing food to eat, they would go for healthy ones mostly because they know what lays in store for violating the law.

However, I believe that people have to shoulder the responsibility if they are to enjoy good health. At the end of the day, it is people themselves who should be concerned about their health. Instead of sitting on the couch and spending hours in front of the screen, they should make a habit of doing physical exercises on a regular basis. Also, they must watch what they eat even if no one tells them to do so. By just controlling their diet, they can ward off many diseases. As soon as people hold themselves accountable for their health and start exercising regularly as well as eating healthy food, they will see great improvements in their health.

To conclude, while new laws regarding nutritious food may lead people to eat healthy food, I believe that only when individuals feel responsible for their health and take action accordingly will the overall public health be improved.
