Some people say it is a waste of time to plan for the future. | Sirojiddin Malikov | IELTS EVEREST

Some people say it is a waste of time to plan for the future. We should live in the present.
To what extent do you agree or disagree?

It is said that people squander their time by planning for the future, instead they should care only about the present. I completely disagree with this viewpoint since I believe that living in the present does more harm than good.

Some may argue that plans do not always work out, thus making them is a waste of time. When people plan something for the future, they cannot predict the possible outcome because they do not know what is in store for them. Regardless, they become obsessed with what they are going to do. This obsession may not let them enjoy the present. All they do will be meticulously planning everything, dwelling on them day and night and exploring every possible path towards their goals, all of which deprives them of the pleasures of the present.

Nevertheless, I think that we should not live in the present at the expense of the future. This is because thinking only about the present may lead to some negative consequences. These may include financial difficulties, problems in our personal lives and work. Moreover, people do not have to spend hours on end planning. It generally takes around 30 minutes a week to plan the things you want to do, consider and write them down. However, if we try to only seize the present, the chances are we cannot contemplate about our future, putting it at risk.

In conclusion, although our plans do not necessarily run like a clockwork, we should not risk our future by only thinking about the present.
