There were many other interesting phrases in today's post as some of you have pointed out! I, however, thought this was the best to pick as our daily phrase.

Meaning: be relaxed and not ready or careful for a danger.

Alternatives: to drop/lower your guard

Many people underestimate this particular skill in the listening section. While it is true that time can be a critical issue in both reading and writing, knowing how to make best use of it can be a game-changer in the listening section as well.

When at the end of each section candidates get half a minute to check their answers, this should be their cue to quickly turn to the next section. Occasionally, you may need to use this time to finalize your answers, especially in sections 2 or 3, but generally, you should just move on as quickly as possible.

In this section of the test, it is important to stay 100% focused and hungry (a figure of speech) throughout the test - you can't afford to let your guard down, even for a second.
