Meanwhile the 36th Infantry Commander's Conference was operating in Mhow when the accident of CDS Rawat's helicopter crash happened. Army Chief General MM Naravane was also present in this meeting.
After the conference here at 1 pm, everyone including the Chief of the Army Staff posed for a group photo. As soon as the accident was reported, the Chief left all his work and went straight to Delhi.
According to sources, after the conference, the Chief of Army Staff had to go to Military College of Telecommunication Engineering (MCTE) as well. He was to have lunch with the officers in the infantry mess and was about to leave for Delhi from Mhow around 5 pm after finishing the conference.
General Naravane immediately called an army helicopter as soon as he got the information of the accident. Without delay, he reached the helipad and kept waiting for the helicopter. As soon as the helicopter arrived, General Naravane left for Delhi within three minutes.
