So Abraham and his men defeat these men in this wicked place and then God Rains fire down upon the whole area.
Then God, very pleased with Abraham, makes a promise to him and his descendants.
A promise of land to Abraham’s direct descendants , to be taken from the evil and wicked ones (highlighted in Red) and given to the righteous bloodline of Abraham.
Note the land promised.
Now understand, only a little bit, why there are wars in the ME over this land.
It was promised by God to belong to the descendants of Abraham.
