US stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Financials, Industrials and Basic Materials sectors led shares lower. At the close in NYSE, the DJIA fell 1.76%, while the S&P 500 index fell 1.55%, and the NASDAQ Composite index fell 1.59%. Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 2,001 to 1,268 and 117 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 2,521 fell and 1,361 advanced, while 201 ended unchanged.
