Meaning: to make someone stop worrying about something
To take the weight off one's feet - give your legs a rest, sit down; lie down (especially after standing or walking for a long time)
To put one's feet up - rest and relax (usually with legs up); sit back
Example:
—Hearing that she's safe has really taken a load off my mind!
— You just don't know how glad I am you're aboard, because anybody who can take some of the weight off the old man, I am... I'm in his corner.
— We've been shopping all day, let's take the weight off our feet, sit down and have a cup of coffee.
