Protect your
Instagram account:
Pick a strong password: use a combination of at least six letters, numbers, and punctuation marks. Don’t use the same password for other accounts or share it with anyone.
Turn on two-factor authentication: this adds an extra layer of security by requiring a code to log in from an unknown device. You can use an authentication app or a text message to receive the code.
Make sure your email account is secure: use a different password for your email account and check your security settings regularly. Your email account is linked to your Instagram account and can be used to reset your password.
Revoke access to suspicious third-party apps: some apps may ask for permission to access your Instagram account, but they may not be trustworthy or secure. To revoke access, go to Settings > Security > Apps and Websites.
Be careful of phishing and scam messages: don’t click on any links or attachments from unknown or suspicious senders. They may try to trick you into giving your login information or personal data. Instagram will never ask for your password or send you a login link via email or direct message.
Check your login activity and active sessions: you can see when and where your account was logged in from and sign out of any devices that you don’t recognize. To do this, go to Settings > Security > Login Activity.
Report any suspicious or hacked accounts: if you notice any unusual activity on your account or someone else’s account, you can report it to Instagram. To report an account, tap the three dots icon on their profile and select Report. To report a post, comment, or message, tap the flag icon and follow the instructions.
