located at the entrance of La Coruña harbour in north-western Spain . The Tower of Hercules was built during the reign of the Roman Emperor Trajan in the 2nd century AD. It was initially designed as a lighthouse to guide ships through the treacherous waters off the coast of Spain. It is still in use today.
