Russia , Sochi, Matsestinskaya tea plantation
Not far from the center of Sochi, in the Matsestinskaya Valley, there is a tea plantation of the same name, one of the northernmost in the world. The local landscapes stand out even against the background of the bright nature of the Krasnodar Territory — the maze of tea bushes on the slopes of the Caucasian Ridge resembles Southeast Asia rather than the south of Russia. Black and green tea have been grown here since 1947.
Matsesta tea plantation is spread over 170 hectares at an altitude of 400 meters above sea level. The "Matsestinsky vintage" variety is cultivated here, almost the most northern tea in the world. The tea here is frost-resistant: plants survive at temperatures up to minus 16 degrees Celsius.
Tea has been grown here since the middle of the last century! Well, it's very picturesque here.
