The Putorana Plateau is a grandiose mountain range, representing a huge territory almost untouched by man, which is called "the edge of ten thousand lakes and a thousand waterfalls." The sight of all the incredible beauty of the plateau is breathtaking — the mountains here have no peaks, and the canyons have bottoms, lakes stretch for many kilometers, rivers fall from the rocks, forming the most amazing waterfalls.
The Putorana Plateau was included in the World Heritage List in 2010.
The Putoransky Nature Reserve, which was established here in 1988 and has been one of the largest in all of Russia since then, is located on a significant territory of the plateau. The area of the Putorana plateau is 250 thousand km2. The nearest major settlement is the city of Norilsk.
