The ruling on Nasheeds:

shaykh Sālih al Fawzān حفظه الله said:

The statement, “I listen to nashīds as an alternative to music”, is like the one who says, “I wash urine (away) with urine.”

Imām Ash-Shāfi’ī رحمه الله said: "Thagbir (Anāshid) were created by heretics to distance people away from the Qur'ān."

Shaykh Sālih al-Fawzān حفظه الله said: "There's no such thing as 'islamic nashīd', this is the innovation of sūfīs, it is not permissible to promote them."

Which is more severe as a sin: listening to singing or listening to anāshīd?

Al-Allāmah Ahmad an-Najmī رحمه الله said:

“Indeed, songs are disobedience and the one who persists in (listening to) them is a fasiq (sinner) while anashid are innovations and the one who persists in (listening to) them is a mubtadi' (innovator). And the fasiq is less evil than the mubtadi'...”

No Such Thing As 'Islamic Nasheeds'

Sh. Ṣāliḥ Āl ash-Shaykh Hafiẓahullāh: “Imām Aḥmad Raḥimahullāh said regarding at-Taghbeer which was innovated by Soofiyyah, and it resembles with the Anāsheed of today, that it is a NEWLY INNOVATED BID’AH, and the sole purpose of it is to drive people away from the Qur’ān.”
