Voyage to Samarkand had already promised much professional fun long before it began.
Asad joined literally at the last minute, my charger was delivered to me while the train was almost moving, and our quadro's business-cupé experience was a whole different story on its own.
Nothing left from the initial plans; in such a dynamic atmosphere, the only predictable variable is unpredictability.
Nevertheless, I at least have an abstract idea of what to expect from the next few days. More than 200
scholars and honorable guests from all across the world are here in Samarkand, so the Freshman alumni are volunteering in a range of key positions from
press-team to
interpreters.
My job, specifically, is to guide the delegates from France, Sweden, and Japan - I have the most diverse group, btw.
Special thanks to Valera, his parents, and the whole team!
Without them, we'd have B.I.G. issues and could only dream of a cozy hotel number like the one we are in now.
