دوازده ماه
An awful woman lived with
her daughter and stepdaughter
in her household.
زنِ خیلی بدی با دختر و نادختری‌اش (دختر ناتنی اش) در خانه‌اش زندگی می‌کرد.
She possessed feelings of hate
for her stepdaughter, Anna.
او نسبت به نادختری‌اش، آنا، دارای احساس تنفر بود.
Anna worked while her
stepsister did nothing.
آنا کار می‌کرد در حالی که خواهر ناتنی اش هیچ کاری نمی‌کرد.
On a cold January night,
Anna’s stepmother remarked,
“Your stepsister desires
flowers. Go and find some.”

Anna wasn’t anxious to walk
through the chilled landscape.

The cold air made her lungs
burn. She walked at a slow
pace because of the snow.
هوای سرد باعث می‌شد شُش‌هایش بسوزد. او به خاطر برف با سرعت کمی حرکت می‌کرد.
Soon she saw a group of
people. It consisted of twelve
men.
به زودی او گروهی از مردم را دید. این گروه از دوازده نفر تشکیل شده بود.
Anna told them about the
flowers.
آنا در مورد گل‌ها به آنها گفت.
One of the men said they were
the twelve months and that
they would help Anna.
یکی از مردها گفت که آنها دوازده ماهِ سال هستند و (او گفت) که آنها به آنا کمک خواهند کرد.
January walked to her and
made a motion with his hand.
ژانویه پیش او آمد و با دستش حرکتی انجام داد.
The days of the month passed
rapidly until it was February’s
turn.
روزهای ماه به سرعت گذشت تا اینکه نوبت ماه فوریه شد.
February also made the month
speed up.
فوریه هم کاری کرد (گذرِ) ماه سریع شود.
Then March made the sun
shine and flowers grew in the
field.
بعد ماه مارس کاری کرد خورشید بتابد و گل‌ها در زمین رشد کردند( سبز شدند) .
Anna loaded her basket with
so many flowers that she could
hardly lift it.
آنا سبدش را با آنقدر تعدادِ زیادی از گل‌ها پر کرد که به زحمت می‌توانست آن را بلند کند.
Then she gave a quick but
polite “thank you” to the
twelve men and returned
home.
بعد یک «ممنونِ» سریع ولی مودبانه به دوازده مرد گفت و به خانه برگشت.
She was very eager to show
her stepmother all the flowers.
او خیلی مشتاق بود تمام گل‌ها را به نامادری‌اش نشان دهد.
Back at the house, she spilled
the flowers onto the table.
وقتی به خانه بر گشت، گل‌ها را روی میز ریخت.
Then she told her stepmother
about the twelve men.
بعد او در مورد دوازده مرد برای نامادری‌اش تعریف کرد.
Anna’s stepmother and
stepsister went to seek the
twelve months.
نامادری و خواهر ناتنی آنا رفتند تا دنبال دوازده ماه بگردند.
Their intent was to ask for
gifts. They looked and looked.
قصد آنها این بود که تقاضای پیشکشی کنند. آنها گشتند و گشتند.
They became very lost and
never found their way home.
Anna lived happily by herself.
آنها خیلی گم شدند و هرگز راهشان را به خانه پیدا نکردند. آنا تنهایی خوشبخت زندگی کرد.
