Brigitte Lacomb captured this memory at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival. It was the only time the Hotel du Cap officially allowed photography in their magnificent, legendary bar. Gucci had graciously funded the two-year restoration of Sergio Leone’s masterpiece, Once Upon a Time in America. Marty Scorsese had championed the salvation of the previously butchered film. I can still hear Ennio Morricone’s haunting score when I remember that premiere.
