And now you know at least one important part of the story, why Bill Gates, the man behind what was historically the world’s most popular computer Operating System, Windows, moved out of his role at Microsoft starting in late 2006 - 2012, and sold tons of stock to fund efforts to supposedly “save the world,” as he claims.

He knew his dominance of his industry was not sustainable; he knew Windows was an inferior product. And so he “moved on” from his old business to other agendas.

In June of 2019, Bill Gates said, in an interview: “In the software world, particularly for platforms, these are winner take-all markets, … so the greatest mistake ever is whatever mismanagement I engaged in that caused Microsoft not to be what Android is.”

The Android Operating System is based on Linux.
