Cardiovascular system – heart and blood vessels, circulates blood through the body, bringing oxygen and nutrients to tissues, carrying away carbon dioxide and toxic by-products.
Arteries – carry blood away from the heart.
Veins – carry blood to the heart.
Capillaries – tiny blood vessels; inside are critical fluids, gases, and nutrients that are exchanged between the blood and body tissues.
Blood is pumped by the heart, through the lungs, where blood is replenished with oxygen and releases carbon dioxide, which is exhaled.
