59 years ago today, President and Mrs. Kennedy welcomed President of Pakistan, Muhammad Ayub Khan, to the first lady’s childhood home in Newport, Rhode Island. It was Khan’s second visit to the US during the Kennedy presidency. Six months earlier, Mrs. Kennedy had visited Pakistan, where Ayub Khan had gifted her with a horse named Sardar.
