Kijana Kwanza is proud to launch the completion of Phase 1 of Bonite Community Housing Development which includes 7 housing units (2 private and 5 affordable, low-cost rental properties) for poor families in Moshi, Tanzania.

It is not unusual for families to live in single-rented rooms with no electricity or running water. Often parents and children of mixed gender will sleep on a single mattress!

Bonite Community Housing Development, designed by HMJK Architects provide 3 bedroom properties with bathroom and kitchen facilities in clusters that promote convivial living.

Phase 1 was generously funded by Raha Foundation, Beta Charitable Trust, Lady Fatemah Charitable Trust, AF Dahya Family Foundation and private donors. We look forwarded to launching Phase 2 next year.

2021-11-30 10:57:42 Today is Giving Tuesday and Kijana Kwanza in Moshi Tanzania needs a little help.

In less than weeks, hundreds of children will start secondary school , but many families cannot buy school uniform, a ruck sack , exercise books and stationery .

What will they do Some children won't go to school , single mothers will take out payday loans or children will turn up to class and get caned . Sadly, it's pretty common .

Before you cut up your credit card after regretting your online shopping at the weekend, please sponsor a Back to School Pack for £ or at:

One of our sponsors decided to honour her father's memory, who tragically passed away last week, by sponsoring a meal for orphaned children and young people at Kijana Kwanza. Thank you, and may he rest in peace.

We are so proud of Mohammed Raliji Banda, who started his Diploma in Social Work at Mwenge Catholic University last month. His studies have kindly been sponsored by the Halal Dinner Club and Leaf Coaching.

From the age of 8 years, Mohammed lived alone in a mudhut, without anyone to support him. In order to buy food, he would go to the market before and after school to sell charcoal. Years later, Mohammed now wants to make a difference, so no other child must face the same uncertain future.

Mohammed is already getting lots of practice! Last weekend, he shadowed our Social Welfare Officer on his monthly home-visits to meet children sponsored by Kijana Kwanza, who live with foster parents in the community.

There's a heat wave in Moshi Town, with temperatures well above average. Some parts of Kilimanjaro Region are breaking records, reaching 36.4 degrees centigrade. Jumanne, our star football player, is regretting the lunchtime kick about.

There's always lots of fun and games at Kijana Kwanza's shelter in Moshi, Tanzania. This afternoon, the boys played the Biscuit Face Challenge - a biscuit is balanced on a person's face and the aim is to eat it without using your hands. Raymond looks like he's in for a treat!
