As the Germans, who didn't support the NSDAP, were told, even they were shocked by the magnitude of the event. No one had ever seen anything like it before that moment. Witnesses and participants spoke of a sense of national unity, emotional elation, incredible enthusiasm, and a mood for change for the better.
When the Germans headed back to their tents after the demonstration, they could still see huge lightning flashes in the sky.
