The woman who helped men land on the Moon

This is Margaret Hamilton next to her handwritten code for the Apollo 11 mission. In 1969, she supervised the writing of the program for the Apollo spacecraft flight computer and actually saved the mission.

Before the landing, the computer was overwhelmed by data updates. But Hamilton's asynchronous execution approach allowed her to ignore secondary requests and execute only those that were critical to landing. The module landed on the surface of the Moon.
