Grammichele is an Italian city with 13,235 inhabitants in the metropolitan city of Catania, Sicily. The city is located on the slopes of the Iblei mountains, the Grammichele hexagonal factory is a rare example of rational architecture in Italy.
Grammichele (in east Sicilian Rammicheli) is the name of the town where the city was built where the inhabitants of Occhiolà moved when it was destroyed by the 1693 earthquake. Speaking Sicilian in Grammichele and in neighboring countries they call him Rammicheli (or Rammiceli) and the inhabitants call him Rammichilisi. The prefix "Ra" next to the specific name of the cities originating from the Arab Rahal, which indicated the houses usually located at the distance of the equestrian path between a post office station, where they drank and rested for a short break.
