2021-12-17 15:30:48 Looking for a barcode reader and cataloger.

A few years ago I scanned our CD and DVD collections into a database using a barcode reader that was a mac app. You held the barcode of the item up to the mac's FaceTime camera. The barcode would then be read and the info about the item displayed in a format that you could copy-and-paste into a database. It was an incredibly easy and intuitive operation and I cataloged hundreds of items in a couple of afternoons. Now, I need to use it again and have no idea which app it was. Any ideas?

2021-12-17 06:30:52 Does the Pro Apps Education Bundle work after you graduate?

I graduated recently and intended to get the Pro Apps Bundle. I still have my .edu email address so I think I can get the discount. I don't want to miss out on these amazing apps even if I don't use them much. It's just a really good deal and I'd like to dabble at some point in the future.

If I buy these apps, do I own them forever?

2021-12-17 03:30:34 Which system stat app offers the best Widgets in Notification Centre?

I've tried Sensei, iStats, MenuStats. Does anyone know which one of these (or another) that offer the best Notification Centre WIDGET experience? Thanks.

Context: instead of cluttering up the menubar area, it would be more beneficial (for me) to just swipe to Notification Centre to see stats when needed.

2021-12-17 02:30:37 Alternative to Jira Time Tracking Tempo TimeSheets

Hello!

I like for my personal tasks during the day to write down what I do for a few hours with some projects.

Jira has the Tempo TimeSheets function but it is paid and I would like to know if there is an application for mac that can do the same as Jira Tempo Timesheets, I mean, have a project with tasks and be able to have a calendar to write down

Time: 11: 30- 12:30

Project: XXXXX

Description of my work: texthere texthere ....

In a calendar view.

Does this exist for mac?

2021-12-16 06:30:34 QFindify: Menubar App to search for texts inside your images

Hey guys, I've made a Mac app for a feature I was hoping apple would have added to macOS this year, or even on Big Sur, but they seem to not be going for it. It's the ability to search your images directly for texts within them.
The app is called QFindify, it's available on the AppStore, and it's a menubar app where you can drag/drop or import images and perform searches for words to narrow down to the images that contains those words.

This is personally very useful if you have a lot of screenshots or folder full of images but you don't really have a way to quickly identify the images that have specific words, for example "lecture Biology Sociology wednesday".
What makes QFindify different from similar apps is that all processing is done locally on your Mac rather than connecting to external online servers, thus all your data stay where they belong, on your mac.
There's an image preview panel allowing to view the images as you scroll through your search results and at any moment, open the image directly. You can toggle to keep the app afloat so your can directly drag and drop batches of images or import from a panel.

The app is free to download and completely free to use all the features I've mentioned above.
But there is a one time IAP of 1.99 if you need additional enhancements and a bit more advanced capability.
Some Advanced Mode features are:
\- advanced filtering options of: ANY/ALL/NONE/EXACT and Regex/pattern matching
\- Save all the images meeting your search into a single unified PDF and open it
\- Create and save all the images matching your search into a New Folder
\- Completely detach the app from the Menubar and float above all other apps
\- Other options to fine tune performance: adjust recognition level, language correction, optimize for specific language, limit to perform to CPU/GPU, etc.

There is an update coming within next few days of: Near instantaneous live search results without you having to press enter key and some animation stabilities.
This is my first app ever after jumping into programming back in 2018, so I would love to hear any feedbacks you guys have and especially let me know if you notice any bugs/glitches you want me to fix up on.

2021-12-16 01:30:31 Gmail App - How to Disable Autoplay (mp4 ?

fresh Mac user here running the google for mail app on Big Sur. I am running‍ into an issue whereby whenever I download a media file (mp4), the file goes to downloads folder and the audio autoplays (just the audio, not video). It is supremely annoying and I am looking for a way to fix this. I know there are ways to disable autoplay in various browsers but not seeing any option for the gmail app for Mac OS. Any ideas on a fix?
