Hyperborean Beards and Braids
One of the most defining racial characteristics of Hyperborean's are our thick manes
even some of our women growing them! These Burly Bestial Beards being a mark of masculinity and maturity.
A common insult for the longest time was to be called
A Beardless Youth duels and executions have involved the touching or unjust shaving of a mans beard, while a high level punishment for men was to be forcibly shaved, bearing their shame upon their faces.
There is a tradition in Northern Europe among the Celts and other tribes of
Beard Braids. Specifically the women of the tribe
wives etc would braid the beards of the men, the intricacy of the braids indicating how much the man was respected and loved. Occasionally a man's mustache would be bleached/dyed for battle, in some tribes the beard might be shaved before battle but the mustache left long and proud! So Men get growing! and Women get Braiding! Lets bring this regal tradition back to our people!
