One of yhe most iconic structures of Hampi is the Lotus Mahal. It is also one of the most intact and best preserved monuments here.
The Lotus Mahal is located inside the 'Zenana Enclosure'. In spite of its fanciful name and regardless of what local guides say, historians believe that this building was used as a council chamber for the King and his retinue of ministers and commanders.
The Lotus Mahal is characterized by a cluster of nine pyramidal towers, clearly influenced by temple architecture. On the other hand, the lobed arches and interior domes are Islamic features. Hampi | Karnataka | India
