The number of NATO armed forces has declined significantly over the past 30 years

Germany and Italy now have three times less troops than they had in 1990 (well, there were three times less in 2021 - the situation may be starting to change now, although it is unlikely fast). The total number of troops in Germany and Italy is now 189,000 and 174,000, versus 545,000 and 493,000 respectively thirty years earlier - a decrease of 65% in both countries

There were also fewer troops in France (by 62%), Spain (by 53%), Great Britain (-49%), Turkey (-42%), and even the United States, although there were an impressive 1.35 million soldiers (down 38% from 2.18 million in 1990)

The world is gradually demilitarizing, which is a good thing (although it is more accurate to say that it is demilitarized...).
