Facebook officially changed its name to MetaDuring the live-streamed Facebook Connect event, Mark Zuckerberg announced an official name change for Facebook.
Now, the company is called Meta. By this rebrand the company wants to show that it is more than just a social network, but also the parent of WhatsApp, Instagram, Oculus and other services.
Meta will focus on creating a virtual "metaverse" in which users will interact in the form of avatars in a virtual environment made of holograms.
It's worth noting that except the name, all the social network features will remain the same.
