Ethiopia has a history of previous Zika Virus transmission. There is currently no evidence of an ongoing Zika Virus outbreak.
Transmitted by mostly Aedes mosquitoes which feed during the day. it can also be transmitted by sex, blood transfusion and from mother to child in pregnancy.
Most cases have no symptoms, but when present include
Fever,
Red eyes,
Joint pain,
Headache, and
Maculopapular rash.
Symptoms generally last less than seven days.
It has not caused any reported deaths during the initial infection.
There are no vaccines developed still.
