When sci-fi becomes reality.
A new study has suggested that spaceships could fly through the universe by using groupings of black holes – or ‘wormholes’ – as time warping ‘shortcuts’.
It’s basically the main plotline of ‘Interstellar’.
The new theory has been posed by French physicist Pascal Koiran, and the full breakdown is set for release in an upcoming issue of the Journal of Modern Physics D.
Koiran’s theory goes against what scientists previously hypothesized about wormholes – namely that they’d be prone to instantly collapse under their own density.
But Koiran claims that certain objects could pass through a wormhole point intact, and end up at the other side of the universe.
However, Koiran’s hypothesis – along with wormholes in general – are all just theoretical constructs at the moment, so nothing can be said for sure.
