Number of joint military activities with CIS member States to be increased in 2023

The military authorities of the Commonwealth of Independent States plan to increase the intensity of joint activities within their armed forces in 2023.

The Chiefs of Staff Committee has approved the plan of action within the multilateral military cooperation for the next year. According to this document, the agenda of 2023 supposes further deepening of the cooperation between the military authorities in the main areas of interoperability, to increase the intensity of joint activities within their armed forces, to combine efforts to counter terrorism and other common challenges and threats.

Participants have also approved the common approach to conduct Combat Commonwealth 2023 exercise that includes live shooting action of Joint Air Defence System troops (forces)

On October 12, CIS Chiefs of Staff Committee hosted a session in Baku. The session was attended by the military delegations from Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Secretariat of the CIS Council of Defence Ministers. The delegation of Russian Defence Ministry was headed by the deputy chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation Colonel General Sergei Istrakov.
